Jazz Bassist Chuck Israels truly is a living legend. At 83 years old he has a wealth of knowledge to share. He’s played with some of the most amazing names in jazz including Bill Evans. He’s also worked with some other greats including John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Bud Powell, Herbie Hancock, Nina Simone and many others. Chuck is also an amazing educator and has taught at many universities. He is a great composer and has won many awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship. We did this interview at his new home in Portland, Oregon on his 83rd birthday. He’s in incredible shape for his age and we hope to see him play the bass and compose for many years to come.
