Jazz Bassist Jonah Jonathan gives a short biography and tribute to Jazz drummer Randy Kaye (1947-2008) rip. Randy Cole played with many greats from a young age including Duke Ellington, Tony Scott, Paul Chambers, Jaki Byard, Sheila Jordan, and Jimmy Giuffres but is most known as being a drummer in Jimi Hendrix’s band in 1969. Randy also lived with Hendrix in a rented mansion. Randy was a master drummer and eventually settled in the Berkshires Massachusetts. He worked with many musicians here including Joe Finn, Pete Toigo, John Meyers, and Alan Livermore. Randy passed away in 2008 but he was a well known drummer in the area and he worked with the who’s who in jazz around the world.
