Jazz bassist Jonah Jonathan interviews Marie-Fatima Rudolf, one of the top young jazz pianists on the canadian scene at the 2013 Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. As the daughter of two jazz musicians, she studied piano and classical music from the age of 4 developing strong technical ability and ear training.After moving to Montreal to study at McGill University, Marie-Fatima began working heavily on the Montreal scene at venues such as Kemia, Quai des Brumes, Absinthe, Upstairs, Cafe Sarajevo, Bily Kun and Upstairs. She also has worked as a side woman at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Marie Fatima recently moved to New York to attend Suny Purchase for her masters degree studying with such luminaries as Hal Galper and Pete Malinverni. Marie Fatima recently recorded an amazing record called Songbird’s Prayer along with master musicians Jim Vivian, John Fabroni, and Cameron Wallis.
