Larry Ridley Interview

Description

Jazz Bassist Jonah Jonathan interviews Jazz Bass Legend Dr. Larry Ridley: Beginning in the 1950s Larry has traveled nationally and internationally performing and recording with many of the great jazz artist/innovators, http://www.LarryRidley.com. Some of the names discussed in this interview include Duke Ellington, Max Roach, Thelonious Monk, Horrace Silver, Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Wes Montgomery, Philly Joe Jones, Sonny Rollins, and many others! Upon viewing this videotaped interview, he realized that he had mistakenly stated that Maya Angelou had contributed to a narrative in the performance he participated in of the “Freedom Now Suite” with Max Roach and Abby Lincoln at the Village Gate in 1960. He offered a correction off-camera that Maya did not do a narrative but, was one of the dancers. http://jazztimes.com/articles/20130-revisited-the-freedom-now-suite
